The following reflects Cathrine’s lived experiences, thoughts, and opinions.
Prior to Winter Break, the Youth Leadership Advisory Council (YLAC) for Fort Smith Public Schools – School-Based Health Center hosted a Holiday Hygiene celebration for students at Tilles Elementary, a neighboring elementary school. YLAC partnered with a local medical college, The Arkansas Colleges of Health Education, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to collect hygiene products for the elementary students. YLAC students then packaged and distributed the hygiene items to the elementary students, as well as providing them with education on the importance of hygiene and the steps to take to maintain adequate hygiene during a fun assembly that included hot chocolate for every student. The elementary students were then sent home with their hygiene bags to put into practice the skills that they learned during the educational assembly!
