The Fort Smith Public Schools – School-Based Health Center (SBHC) recently gave a free dodgeball to every single student at Darby Middle School, a middle school located in Fort Smith, AR. In order to promote best use of the new dodgeballs, the Youth Leadership Advisory Council for the SBHC created and promoted an educational video highlighting the physical and mental benefits associated with dodgeball play. This video was showed to every single student prior to receiving the dodgeball. This video explored how utilizing the dodgeballs can positively impact the social, psychological, and fitness aspects of students’ lives. The video also includes game ideas and other creative ways to squeeze the most out of the free dodgeballs; best and safe use guidelines were also included. YLAC played an instrumental role in ensuring students had adequate information to utilize their new balls in the most productive ways possible.
